Whether they are physical or emotional, we all have our scars. They’re part of who we are. For years, I despised mine (brought on by a horrible skin disease, lichen planus) and hated my body for failing me. It took a long time, but I finally accepted them. Now when I look at my physical scars or think about my emotional ones, I see them as signs that I survived some very difficult times. It may take a while, but you can learn to love your scars, too. Remember, they are battle wounds that show how strong you are and that you survived what life handed you.
