As you probably know, I’ve always been careful about what I eat and I’m constantly tweaking as I learn more about food. I’ve ditched all artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, and more in my diet. I’ve lived with endometriosis for 30 years, and struggle with depression and a crappy immune system, so I’m always trying to what’s in my control to be the healthiest version of myself. But I had no clue that what we put ON our body was just as important as what we put in our body. And I had no clue that the beauty industry was such a mess.
I joined Beautycounter as a rep recently after flipping out about all the toxins in the beauty products on the market. Once I found out that the United States had not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients in personal care products since 1938 (79 years!!!), I knew I had to get involved and spread the word. So that’s what I’m doing. 🙂
Here’s a great tool to check the safety of the products you’re using – the EWG’s Healthy Living app by the Environmental Working Group. Download it, enter or scan the products you use, and get a rating (1-10) based on reproductive toxicity, hormone disruption and allergies. Keep in mind that companies are not required to disclose the ingredients used in their products, so this can be a red flag if you can’t find something.

Beautycounter bans the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through its “Never List” (below) but still ensures its products are high performing and indulgent. That’s why I love the company so much!
