I’m over here celebrating Beautycounter’s 7-year anniversary today! And I thought this would be a good time to share the many reasons I joined this company and its incredible mission three years ago:
Because I lived with the debilitating pain of endometriosis for 30+ years and the discomfort of lichen planus for 8 years.
Because hormonal and immune diseases like endometriosis may be linked to environmental toxins.
Because as I was busy focusing on healing my mind, exercising, and eating clean, I was slathering toxins on my skin. And I had no idea.
Because I’ve seen too many of my friends fight or lose the fight to cancer and other serious illnesses. And it makes me wonder, and want to know more about the causes.
Because I was absolutely floored to learn that the United States has not passed a federal law regulating the ingredients in personal care products since 1938. ️1938️!!!
Because it’s legal in the U.S. to sell personal care products that contain harmful chemicals linked to cancer, infertility and other serious health problems.
Because the European Union has banned over 1400 ingredients from personal care products while the U.S. has banned only 30.
Because the deception in the beauty industry is so much like what we just went through with the food industry.
Because this is about advocating for safety for ALL… from baby shampoo to body lotion to cosmetics… whether you buy your stuff at the grocery store or at Saks.
Because we shouldn’t have to worry about what’s in our makeup, lotion, or baby shampoo.
Because I wanted to use my voice for change. That’s why I joined the Beautycounter movement for safer ingredients and more transparency in personal care products. And I couldn’t be more proud.
Happy Anniversary, Beautycounter! I’m so grateful for you. ️
